Carnelian is a vibrant red-orange variety of Chalcedony, colored by traces of iron oxide. Found in regions such as the United States, Bulgaria, Peru, Uruguay, Sri Lanka, India, Brazil, Germany, and Indonesia, this stone has been treasured for thousands of years—dating back to 5500 BCE.
 
The ancient Egyptians referred to Carnelian as the “sunset stone,” and it was famously included in King Tutankhamun’s burial mask. Alongside Zircon, it was one of the twelve sacred stones in Aaron’s breastplate, as mentioned in the Bible. It also had a practical use in ancient printmaking, where designs were carved into its surface to create stamps and seals.
